The 242nd Chennai Speaker Forum meeting kick
started on 19th Feb’17, at Trust Conference Hall, Nungambakkam.
Meeting started on sharply on time at 10 am with a high
energy and a packed house!
10.00 A.M. SSA CALLS FOR MEETING.
Meeting was called to order by the acting Sergeant at Arms ,TM
Supraja , who explained the mission and vision of ToastMasters and control was
handed to The President.
10.05 A.M. PRESIDENT
ADDRESS.
Before declaring the meeting open, President TM Siddarth set
the tone of the meeting right by narrating an inspiring story on how right strategy
helped Indian Navy attack the PNS Gazhi in spite of being short of resources to
resist an attack.
10:10 A.M. –
PRECIDING OFFICER INTRODUCED THE TMOD.
Presiding office TM Siddarth introduced the TMOD – TM Janani
,who announced the Theme and word of the day .
Theme Of The Day: It’s never too late
Word of the day: “Perseverance”.
10:15 A.M. – GENERAL
EVALUATOR INTRODUCTION.
TMOD introduced the General Evaluator for the meet, TM Pratima,
Who explained her role and in turn announced the TAG Role Players of the day
,as below

TM Basheer beautifully narrated the story of a career oriented person
whose life revolved around earning for his family and finally not being able
to enjoy life with his family.

TM Karthik recollected instances from epics like Mahabaratha and
Ramayana in captivating way.

By the end of this segment, TMOD requested the gathering to
vote for the best speaker and proceeded to the next segment.
10:50 A.M. – TABLE
TOPIC SESSION
TMOD handed over the control to TM Gopal, who essayed the role
of Table Topics Master. A mock Table Topics Contest was held and even the
topics that were given away to the contestants were of contest material. Below
were some of the topics.
- - Whether you think you can or you cant, you are right!
- - The bigger the mountain, better the view
- - Life is a tragedy when seen in close and comedy when seen from a long shot
- - All that glitters is not gold.
11:20 A.M. –
EVALUATION SESSION
The General Evaluator was called upon by the TMOD for an
evaluation session. The GE and her team of evaluators presented their
evaluations.
Take away comments from the evaluators are as below
- TM Siddarth recommended that the speech can be prevented from getting cut short ,while delivering the project 5 from CC Manual.
- TM Rajesh while evaluating a project 6 delivery from CC Manual , recommended the speaker to improve on body language as it gave away the story or the surprise element in the story.
- DTM Saro while evaluating the project 1 from ACG Story Telling Manual ,suggested the speaker to induce experience through entertainment and wisdom.
After the evaluations of the speech segment, the control was
handed back to GE.
11:30 A.M. – SPECIAL
TT EVALUATION SESSION
The GE introduced the TT Evaluator of the Day – TM Rajesh Natrajan,
who gave away his evaluation on all the TT speeches delivered.
TT Evaluator, TM Rajesh Natrajan suggested the below tips
for all the contestants to ace the TT Contests.
- - Stick to a time limit of 1 min and bring a logical conclusion after this time limit is reached.
- - Don’t pack too much of detail.
- - As practice makes a man perfect, regular participation would aid the opportunity to practice.
He later handed back the control to the GE.
11:40 A.M. – TAG TEAM
& GE REPORT
GE requested the Tag role players to present their reports,
which was later followed by the GE Report for the day.
The GE noted that the room was well prepared as requested
during the previous GE report. GE also noticed and appreciated that the
evaluators who used the sandwich technique while delivering their evaluations.
The GE handed the control back to the President, who called
upon the Secretory for the M.O.M. Recap Session.
11:45 A.M. – M.O.M.
RECAP SESSION
The Secretory, TM Sowmya, gave a quick recap on the previous
meet and handed the control back to the President.

FEEDBACK
President requested guests for their feedback on the session.
Every Guest was heard and all of them had good feedbacks. Some of the notable
feedbacks from guests were as follows,
- The mere presence of Toastmasters like DTM Saro and TM Rajesh Natrajan frequenting this club is seen as CSFs strength, because their wisdom has been helping the members learn and grow every session.
- CSF is one of clubs where energetic and passionate speakers who are young, encouraging and welcoming.DTM Saro had also provided his feedback to CSF members, he recommended that the role players come better prepared and felt that the members can arrive earlier to the meet.
