'The enemy who loved me'

Like everyone in this world I believed that every battle counts in our life. When my very first application to CPWD for Junior Engineer post was rejected because of underage, I was below 18 years that time, I felt like a loser. After few days he learnt a mantra from his math’s teacher “Attack the problem, attack the problem, whether it is Math or life don’t back away, attack the problem”. This “Attack the problem” got him a job in Railways. In Railways whenever there is an accident or derailment a team of officials from all the four departments investigates the prima facie cause of the accident. Investigation starts with discussion, continues like a quarrel and ends like a war. Because of the so called killer attitude I became the most sought after person in my department whenever there was an accident. Once there was a derailment on main line near Melpakkam. The so called investigation started heating up and he was talking in an “all out” manner and the things should have gone little nasty. Mechanical HOD looked into his eyes and uttered “Son, I have been observing you from the day you arrived here. I am impressed by your presence of mind, theoretical knowledge, practical application, dedication and hard work. I like the way you argue but today the words and the way you used them hurt me. From this incient he learnt a lesson that fight your enemies hard, to win the battle, but love them a lot to taste real success in your life”
