The 238th Chennai Speaker Forum meeting kick started on 22nd Jan’17, at Trust Conference Hall, Nungambakkam.
Meeting started on time at 10 am with a high energy !
10.00 A.M. SSA CALLS FOR MEETING.
Meeting was called to order by the Sergeant at Arms ,TM Supraja, who explained the mission and vision of Toastmaters and control was handed to The President.
10.05 A.M. PRESIDENT ADDRESS.
President TM Siddarth delivered his address and declared the meeting open.
10:10 A.M. – PRECIDING OFFICER INTRODUCED THE TMOD.
Presiding office TM Siddarth introduced the TMOD – TM Supraja ,who announced the Theme and word of the day.
Theme of the day was – The magic of believing
Word of the day was ‘Ardent’ meaning passionate.
Word of the day was -  Delectable.
10:15 A.M. – GENERAL EVALUATOR INTRODUCTION.
TMOD introduced the General Evaluator for the meet, TM Uma Shankar, Who explained his role and in turn announced the TAG Role Players of the day ,as below
Grammarian – TM Siddarth
Ah Counter – TM Srikar
Timer – TM Sowmya
10:20 A.M. – PREPARED SPEECH SESSION
TM Shriram attempted the project #5 – “Your Body Speaks” from Competent Communication manual, he gave a speech on a real life incident which changed him for better. His speech title was – “One Moment”. In his speech, he recalled on how a smooth sailing copying episode turned counterintuitive and how he was caught by an invigilator, who he was least suspecting. He also narrated that he maintained his cool throughout the entire episode, until he saw his mom cry while being summoned to his principal’s room – An incident that changed his copying habit.
TM Manoj attempted Project #2 “Resourced for Entertainment” from ACS The Entertaining Speaker Manual – His speech title was – “The Parallel World”. In his speech, he pointed the many adverse effects of indulging in social network. He gave many instances of how social network has changed the way we live, and how we humans are altering our lives for the sake of the image we are maintaining in the social networking sites. He spoke about two different real life personalities to substantiate the good usages and bad usages of social network.
10:38 A.M. – TABLE TOPIC SESSION
TMOD introduced the TT Master of the day TM Anuj , who took control and conducted a TT session where everyone who attended the meeting was given an opportunity to perform an impromptu speech on a topic given to them. TM Anuj prudently showcased a sample table topics session by calling upon the TM Siddarth as the first contestant of this session.
Topics that were as follows
1.      Thought is original source of wealth, success and achievement.
2.      Creative forces come only when there is a completely rounded out thought, when there is a fully developed mental picture.
3.      I would like to point out that hard work alone will not bring success
4.      Something more than hard work is necessary, it is firm belief in your abilities to execute your ideas.
5.      If success is to be measured in terms of wealth, can you fix the amount in figures?
6.      Every person is a creation of himself and the image of his own thinking
7.      You are a product of your own thoughts.
8.      What you exhibit outwardly, you are that inwardly.
9.      For great artists, there’s no such thing as small part, for small artists there’s no such thing as big parts.
10.   What a fool cannot learn, he laughs at, thinking laughter will showcase superiority instead of latent idiocy.
11.   We are moulded by the thoughts of others, by what we hear in newspaper , magazine and books.
By the end of this session , TTM handed back the control to TMOD.
11:00 A.M. – EVALUATION SESSION
The General Evaluator called upon by the TMOD for a evaluation session. The GE and his team of evaluators presented their evaluations.
TM Praveen evaluated TM Shriram speech – P#5 from CC Manual. He applauded TM Shriram for using good hand gestures and body language, as it helped him visualise the incident narrated during the speech. TM Praveen suggested TM Shriram to improve his stage movement ,as it could have also aided for better visualisation by the audience.
TM Selvan evaluated TM Manoj’s speech- P#2 from ACS The Entertaining Speaker Manual. He appreciated TM Manoj for painting a good picture and topic selection.

11:10 A.M. – GENERAL EVALUATOR’S REPORT
 General Evaluator noted that the Role Players were not attending the meeting on time and requested the role players specifically to be present at the venue ,at least 15 mins before the start of the meeting. The tag role players when called upon , presented their reports.
11:20 A.M. – ANNOUNCEMENT OF BEST PERFORMERS
Control was handed over to the presiding officer TM Sidharth, who acknowledged the below winners.
Best Speaker –  TM Shriram
Best Evaluator –  TM Praveen
Best Table Topics Speaker – Guest Abhishek
Best Role Player – TM Uma Shankar
Best Tag Role Player- TM Siddarth
Presiding officer requested for guest Introduction and meeting feedbacks from both the guests of the day and made announcements on Emergence and Division conference registrations. He also insisted that the CSF address Gmap be updated asap.
11:30 A.M – MOMENTS OF TRUTH WORKSHOP
Presiding officer handed over the control to the Area Director TM Karthikeyan , who conducted the Moments of Truth Workshop ,where he split the attendee members into groups ,and each group was asked to assess certain aspect of the club ,against the standards.
On a scale of 30, each aspect of the club was given the below score based on the compliance to the standards.

Some of the truth that was discussed during the workshop include the below
1.      No new member orientation and proper mentorship happening.
2.      Excom members being either late or being absent for the meeting.
3.      Membership strength going low.
4.      Not many social events happening at club level.
Members were not just asked to speak about the short comings of the club, they were also encouraged to come up with possible solutions to address them.
TM Karthikeyan summarised the discussions from whole of the workshop and pointed out on immediate actions that were needed for improving Membership Orientation and Membership Strength.
12:00 P.M. – MEETING ADJOURNED
Control was handed over to the presiding officer , who adjourned the meeting to 29th of Jan’17.
