Meeting No 258 - Minutes

The 258th Chennai Speaker Forum meeting was conducted on July 2nd, at Trust Conference Hall, Nungambakkam.

Meeting started at 10 am.

10.00 A.M. SAA CALLS MEETING TO ORDER

Meeting was called to order by the Sergeant at Arms. TM Nagaraj. He explained the mission and vision of Toastmasters before introducing the President , TM Shriram.

10.02 A.M.  PRESIDING ADDRESS.

The newly elected President TM Shriram addressed the gathering for the first time and declared the meeting open.

10:04 A.M.- GUEST INTRODUCTIONS.

The guests were called upon for their Introductions. Guest TM Riya and Guest Sugunesh introduced themselves.

10:10 A.M. – PRESIDENT INTRODUCED THE TMOD.

The President introduced the ToastMaster of The Day – TM Sowmya. She introduced the theme and the word of the day and briefed on the agenda of the meet.

Theme of The Day: “Eat healthy, eat on time”

Word of The Day: “Panacea” – A solution to all problems.

She later introduced TM Pratima, the General Evaluator for the day and handed over the control.

10:15 A.M. – GENERAL EVALUATOR INTRODUCTION.

The GE explained her role and in turn introduced the TAG Role Players of the day, the tag role players were as below

Timer – TM Udaya

Ah Counter - TM Nagaraju

Grammarian - TM Farhan

Control was handed back to the TMOD.

10:20 A.M. – PREPARED SPEECH SESSION

The TMOD introduced the speakers and the requested the respective evaluators to read the project objectives before each speech.

We had 4 speakers, each presenting various projects from the Competent Communication Manual.

First speaker was TM Kavin , who gave his CC #1 speech – The Icebreaker – Titled – “Life is a sport”. Second speaker was TM Kannan, he gave his CC #2 – Organise your Speech- Titled – “The Best Medicine”. Third speaker was TM Gopal, he gave his CC #3 – Get to the point – Titled – “Mind you Mind”. Final and fourth speaker of the day was Tm Bharathi Goel , she gave her CC #6 -Vocal Variety – Title – “Should I Quit?”

All the speakers did a great job, making the voting difficult.

By the end of this session, the TMOD took control.

10:52 AM – TABLE TOPICS SESSION

TMOD handed over the control to Table Topics Master for the day,TM Akshay, who played his role immaculately. 

TT Master TM Akshay called upon the members and guests for impromptu speaking on topics that were in line with the theme of day.

By the end of the TT session, control was handed back to TMOD.

11:27 A.M. – EVALUATION SESSION

The General Evaluator was called upon by the TMOD for an evaluation session. The GE and his team of evaluators presented their evaluations for the prepared speeches.

TM Udhay evaluated TM Kavin’s CC1 speech, TM Selvan evaluated TM Kannan’s CC2 , TM Rajesh evaluated TM Gopal’s CC3 and TM Shriram evaluated TM Bharathis CC6.

After the evaluations were done, the control was handed back to GE.

11:42 A.M. – GE & TAG TEAM REPORT

GE TM Manoj requested the tag team to present their report, following which he gave his report.

The GE later handed the control back to the TMOD.TMOD handed back the control to the President.

11:50 A.M. – ANNOUNCEMENTS OF WINNERS  

The President acknowledged the below winners based on the audience votes

Best Speaker –  TM Bharathi

Best Evaluator – TM Shriram

Best TT Speaker -  TM Guhan

Best Role Player – TM Sowmya

Best Tag Role Player- TM Farhan

Later the guest feedbacks were asked for their valuable feedbacks and The President made a couple of announcements

1.      Combined Meeting on July 9^th along with Chennai Communicators Forum.

2.      Requested everyone to submit their articles for the upcoming Newsletter.

3.      Officers Training Program to be held on July 15^th at TCS One.

4.      Requested new venue suggestions

Standing Ovation was given away to TM Kavin , who had embarked on the CC journey, to TM Selvan for completing his ACB Manual.

12:00 A.M. – MEETING ADJOURNED

The President adjourned the meeting to 16^th July 2017.
